How ChronoSagas works
Publishing is free. Every book is free to read. Authors who want to be paid use their own payment link, and we take nothing from it.
What does it cost to publish a book on ChronoSagas?
Nothing. Publishing is free for any signed-in account, on any subscription plan or none at all. There is no listing fee, no minimum, and no editorial gate. You can publish, edit, unpublish and republish as often as you like without being charged.
Do I keep the rights to what I publish?
Yes. You retain full ownership of everything you publish. ChronoSagas is where your work is hosted and found; it does not acquire any rights to it.
Are books free to read?
Yes. Every book on ChronoSagas is free to read, with no paywall and no purchase step. There is no cart.
How do authors get paid, and what is the $10 commercial licence?
If you want to be paid for a work, you buy a one-time $10 commercial licence for it. That unlocks exactly one thing: your own payment link on that work's public page. Readers pay you directly, through your own account with a payment service. ChronoSagas takes no percentage of what you earn and is not part of the transaction.
Which payment services can I link to?
PayPal.me, PayPal, Ko-fi, Gumroad, Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon, Payhip, itch.io, Stripe Payment Link. The link must be https and is checked against that list when you save it.
Is the $10 charged per chapter, or every time I republish?
Neither. It is charged once per work. Adding chapters costs nothing, and unpublishing then republishing the same work does not charge again. You can pay it with 10 Chronocredits if you hold them, or by card if you do not — same price, same result, and no subscription is required either way.
Can I publish something free and charge for it later?
Yes. Publishing free first never disqualifies you from buying the licence afterwards. There is no waiting period.
What are the rules for a book published free of charge?
A work published free of charge stays free: no soliciting payment, donations, tips or crowdfunding on the page or inside the story. You confirm this when you publish. If we find something, your work stays published and you get at least seven days to remove it or buy a licence — and if it is genuinely part of the story, you can tell us and a person will review it.
Can I publish fan fiction?
Yes, and it is always free to publish. Fan fiction cannot carry a payment link and cannot be commercially licensed, because the underlying world is not yours to sell.
Is AI-assisted fiction allowed?
Yes. AI-assisted work is welcome here, treated like any other tool a writer uses. Books are not labelled by how they were written.
Who can play or write in my world?
Nobody, unless you say so. Two separate permissions control it, both off by default. "Play my world" lets a reader start their own private playthrough seeded from your world bible — your timeline is never touched. "Allow spinoff books" separately lets others publish their own books set in your world; without it, publishing a spinoff is blocked.
How do serials work?
Serials release chapter by chapter rather than all at once. Turn on serial mode from your book's manage page and release chapters from the queue, immediately or on a schedule. The public page lists what has been released and when, and readers can follow to be notified when a new chapter lands.
What is the Chronorating?
A book's community score: the average of all reader ratings from one to five stars. Rate a book from its page after reading, and the Chronorating updates immediately.
Can readers download books?
Yes. Books can be downloaded as EPUB, PDF, DOCX or Markdown from the book's page.
